Objectives

The FabLab from Târgu Ocna is operating at the Technological High School in the small town, in collaboration with the National School of Agent Training, so the approximately 100  beneficiaries will also include students from these institutions.

The FabLab designed by the Terre des hommes Foundation is a space equipped with modern technological equipment (3D printers and scanners, car mechanic equipment, digital embroidery machines or cutter plotters), which young people will learn to use. Young people in the eEducational Centre, but also high school students and those in the School of Agents will design and produce objects themselves and  develop basic skills – team work, project completion --which will be very useful for them on the labour market. This equipment is currently used in many industries, and the knowledge that the young people from the Educational Centre acquire will help them to reintegrate after their release.

In the first stage, the equipment was installed in the FabLab, after consulting with specialists and local partners. In the second stage, the employees from the Târgu Ocna were trained at the Educational Center to use of equipment. Then training activities werecarried out with young people in the FabLab, with certain restrictions because of the pandemic.

The activities started in September 2020. The project piloted by the Terre des hommes Foundation ended in December 2020, but the FabLab is intended to operate for five years. It has been implemented with funding from the Botnar Foundation (Switzerland).
