In the heart of communities that have welcomed people fleeing conflict, Brasov and Budapest, small hubs of possibility are quietly transforming lives. These are the Resilience Innovation Facilities (RIFs) - once focused on digital skills training for vulnerable children and youth, now poised to become powerful engines of social inclusion for refugees and vulnerable families.

The RIF4UA project is about more than just services. It’s about transformation—of spaces, of support systems, and of lives. We’re scaling up RIFs to become integrated community centers: places where language is learned, bonds are built, systems are understood, and most importantly, where dignity is restored.

Through a thoughtful blend of technology, psychosocial support, and human connection, RIFs have become safe havens. Now, they will evolve further, offering a holistic approach that meets the real, everyday needs of refugee families. From intercultural activities and psychosocial workshops to bureaucratic guidance and employment support, every aspect of the project is designed with care and intention.

A key feature of this evolution is the inclusion of parents and adults, linking skills development and educational support to access to social services and the job market. But we know that for parents to truly participate, their children must be safe and supported too. That’s why we’ve created a dedicated afterschool program for children whose parents are employed or actively seek employment and need support with childcare during the working hours. This ensures that families can grow and learn together, without having to choose between their own development and their children’s care.

These pillars form the foundation for all we do, ensuring that every refugee family we reach is supported not just materially, but emotionally, socially, and psychologically.

The project also brings in the expertise of our trusted partner, Agentia de Dezvoltare Durabilă a Județului Brasov (ADDJB), who will help bridge the gap between skills and employment. Together, we will adapt proven methods, from job search training to employer matching- tailored to the unique needs of displaced people navigating new beginnings.

RIF4UA is not just about services - it's about restoring agency, rebuilding trust, and reigniting hope. It's about walking beside those forced to start over and making sure they don't have to do it alone.

The project is funded through the Social Innovation Initiative and is implemented in partnership with Terre des hommes Hungary and  Agenția de Dezvoltare Durabilă a Județului Brașov (ADDJB)
